Dont buy this printer!!! I have had to replace this brother printer because after several months they will wrap a piece of paper or a label around the heat roller. There are no instructions on how to remove the heat roller and so you end up picking it out in small pieces and eventual damaging the roller which ruins the printer. If you nick the roller getting the paper off, the repair is over $200.00. Also on this model you cannot reset the chip counter to use the last of the toner which is wasteful and bad for the environment. It also made the catridges in the machine I replaced in usable in the new machine. I will be an HP customer an never buy from Brother again.

Great value for home office. My printing jobs are big but relatively infrequent. This printer is always ready when needed and the results are more than adequate. It’s connected to the office network and can be accessed from our networked PC, Linux and Mac computers and wireless iPads. That said, while the cost and ease of operation is outstanding the results from printing photos leaves much to be desired.

Easy to set up, is relatively quiet, and delivers smooth color printing. It has been "no hassle, no drama" 3 months into ownership (light usage, about 10 pages/week). It can print double-sided (lets save paper), and we had no problem printing from a cellphone either. The cartridges for this model cost a LOT less than for the other Brother models, and less than comparably equipped printers from other manufacturers. The cost of ownership is not the printer - it is the replacement cartridges. Do your homework before you buy. Ive been thrilled with this printer.

I have been using brother printers for a long time. I had a Samsung last time and it was great but something went wrong with the firmware or at the motherboard or something. I tried to get Samsung to help us fix it but they did not even though it was only two and a half years old. At this price point it was more expensive for me to take the time figuring out how to fix the old one than to just buy a new one. I really did like the Samsung but since it broke and they didnt help me I decided to go with brother this time. The print quality is excellent and the toner prices reasonable so I think Im happy but Ive only had it about two months. If things change I will update the review.

Like: Fast, high quality text printing. Easy installation. Dislike: Price of replacement toners is ridiculous. Over $300.00 for a complete set of Genuine Brother toners. Have not tried 3rd party options which are advertised as compatible. Will try them when needed. Additional Comment: Weve only had this printer for about a month so I cannot attest to its reliability yet. It is very heavy. Recommend help in placing on printer stand. Its too large for desktop placement unless you have a very large desk! Price of replacement toner prevents me from giving it 5 stars.

Been very pleased with with unit so far. Networking was a bit quirky when I set it up at first (and I do networking for a living). It all cleared up after I disabled IPv6 on both wired and wireless.

Once the toner cartridge drops to about 50%, the print quality suffers greatly. So you have to plan on only getting half of the pages per toner cartridge, unless youre just printing drafts and dont care about quality.

Beither makes some great printers and I have been fan if them for years - low prices, cheap ink and toner and almost never jams or has print quality issues. My only beef with this bad boy is that often he tells you that something has printed when it actually has not, then you get a message about 10 minutes later that there was an issue with printing (consistently 10 minutes, in fact) Troubleshooting led nowhere, but rebooting it manually seems to take care of it. Not a big deal, just trying to save you from a headache and maybe give the manufacturer a hint that they need to work on improving their drivers.

For years we have had a Canon printer that gave us nothing but trouble. The lovely printer is fast and easy to use. We use the wireless connection to link our computers with this printer and it was so easy to connect, When we connected the Canon to the computers it took us over an hour to connect just one of our computers. I contacted Brother for another issue and the customer service was excellent. The paper is also really easy to load into the feeder tray. We are so glad we updated our printer and wish we had done so long ago!! I think that Brother is an excellent company and really thinks through the simplicity of use and functionality of all of its product. I highly recommend this product.

Easy set up and cheap to run. the ink capacity is high. But the cost per page is low, The quality is excellent. I like it as it can print both sides too. Once it get started the printing speed is quick. Does not have a scanner. I bought a Brothers scanner to work with it through the computer. The combo is cost effective for a laser printer.
