I did a thorough search of what you could buy for around $ 500-600. After reading reviews, videos and comparing products here in Amazon and also in other local stores, I decided for this. Was looking for something with a decent processor, RAM, storage, ports, backlit KB, and touch-screen and stylus if possible. Theres nothing that can match what you get with this HP Pavilion x360 for around the same price. The processor its fast enough for everyday tasks such as: web browsing multiple tabs in Chrome, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, MS Office, some casual (really really casual) gaming, specially older games will run really nice. In my case I decided to add an extra 4gb RAM, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019FRDKWI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, and an M2 ssd (NVMe) stick of 240 gb and removed the OPTANE which may be useful, but if you can, lets better add and ssd... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BMXS6SH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1... And man this thing flies. With that included youll spend $500 and you are getting: PROS: + amazing performance +a nice display (I only wish it were a little brigther, but for inside use its totally fine) +full size backlit keyboard and typing in my opinion, feels good. +GREAT speakers, they sound good and volume is amazing. +Touch-screen good and responsive, and a Stylus if you take notes or draw. +The build quality, its good, and the feeling of the laptop makes you think its a lot more expensive than it actually is. CONS: -Battery life could be better. When using at max. brightness and Backlit KB on, I get around 4-5 hours of usage. -When running heavy tasks such as casual gaming (old Need For Speed games in my case) it tends to heat a little bit. Its not much, but enought to be considered a CON for some people. In my opinion and after a few days using this laptop, I gotta say, Im glad I didnt spend a lot more just to get a better processor. Yes the i3-8130U, its dual core and it wont beat any benchmarks or anything, but with the SSD and more RAM, you wont mind that at all. Hope this helps.

This is the single worst laptop I have ever owned. I bought this laptop purely to be a display for information for potential clientele and it has never worked properly. This laptop is powered off completely each time I am done using it which is, at most, once a week. The laptop arrived with damaged line of pixels. I was told by HP support to have the laptop repaired locally and they would reimburse the cost. I did not. I left the line damaged because it was barely noticeable and only occurred with green colors. After finishing up with a new client, I brought the laptop home and selected the “update and shut down” option. It crashed during update and went to a blue screen. I was told by support to do a system restore to solve the issue. During the system restore, the laptop crashed again. This corrupted the operating system. Three days later, the recovery media arrives via mail and I am able to get the laptop running again. The very same day, the internet stops working. It now begins to disconnect every few minutes from WiFi and they cannot solve the issue. HP support spends the next few days trying to solve the issue to no avail. They have since changed settings to the point that I can no longer open any program that is not an app. Their new solution is to factory reset the laptop once again. Three times in a week. I wanted something simple and reliable. I got neither one.

I started online community college in August of 2018. I knew that I would eventually need a new laptop, my old one being well over 3 years old at that point. When my charging port started acting funky, I knew it was time. Setup (Rating: 3/5) Setup proved to be an initial hassle. Network setup was a breeze. However, I forgot my Microsoft account password, and when I tried to reset my password through setup, it didnt work. Worse, when I restarted the machine to re-initiate startup, it froze. Upon restarting a second time, however, things went more smoothly. TAKEAWAYS: Know your Microsoft account password and reset through other means like on an old PC on via smart phone. Initial Impressions (Rating: 4/5) This PC is faster than what Im used to, but then again the bar isnt so high! (Remember, I had a three-year-old laptop prior to this one, and before that, I only owned second-hand laptops. There is a slightly annoying amount of pre-installed bloatware that I had to remove, fortunately with no hiccups. I tried giving Microsofts Edge a chance to wow me, but to no avail. Chrome installed. Everything running smoothly. TAKEAWAYS: Removal of bloatware was successful, install another browser, youll thank yourself later. Tablet/Kickstand functionality (Rating 3/5) A key selling point of this laptop is that you can use it as a laptop, a tablet, and even use the keyboard portion of the laptop to prop up the screen. The laptop also comes with a stylus, which was... neat. (The stylus did work for my computer, although at least one reviewer complained that his didnt.) I have made use of the tablet/kickstand mode when reading for school. However, the laptop is quite heavy and there isnt a lot of margin around the screen for your thumbs to hold onto the front of the screen. The tablet mode is less than ideal because of this. However, I can see myself using it nonetheless propped up on my legs while lying in bed catching up with Netflix and Hulu. Another critique that I would offer is that sometimes, in laptop mode, the computer gets confused when the screen is tilted back too much, and tries to go into tablet mode. It corrects itself shortly thereafter, but thats something to consider. TAKEAWAYS: Tablet mode may be uncomfortable to use for some people, the computer gets confused when the laptop is tilted a certain way, but the kickstand mode is bomb! Keyboard (Rating 5/5) What type of keyboard that is ideal is largely a subjective question. When I look at keyboards, I primarily want a good, solid keyboard that isnt prone to dipping (when the entire keyboard dips after pressing a key), that also has a full number pad. Some HP laptops, from my experience, do this annoying thing where the up/down/left/right toggle switches impede the right shift key. Fortunately, this keyboard doesnt do that. Im impressed with the quality of the keys and find the back-lighting to be a thoughtful touch. I know some users prefer a more solid keyboard similar to the old mechanical keyboards of the past. If thats a deal breaker for you, then you should consider another laptop. I take no issue with the flat keys. TAKEAWAYS: Solid designed full keyboard with optional backlighthing a delight to use. Battery Life (5/5) Coming from my perspective, using a laptop that would go dead after two hours, the battery life of this laptop is impressive. I dont know how it measures up to HPs stated battery life, but I am satisfied. Lets put it this way: I basically had my laptop on from morning until 3AM. I used it probably three-four hours out of that time period. I didnt have to charge my battery until this morning. Now, if I were using the laptop from 8AM -- 3AM, with the keys backlit and the screen at maximum brightness playing video games, that would be a different story. However, if you use this laptop for classes back-to-back and you are essentially just using it for light internet use and word processing, with the screen relatively dim and the keyboard light function toggled off, I dont foresee there being any problems. Final thoughts Obviously, Ill have more to say about this laptop as it ages. From experience, laptops tend to perform worse as time goes on. How this laptop holds up will ultimately influence my overall impression of this laptop. Things are looking good so far, and I hope theyll be good as I progress through college and university.

Worse laptop I’ve ever had! It’s clicking in things by itself, going to websites, pausing my videos on YouTube, change de videos, I can’t even write one homework without getting mad! I will totally return this computer as soon is possible. It’s so much better to pay a little bit more but have something better

I dont know if anyone else has the same problem with the computer starting up but booting made this thing act crazy. Maybe it was because it was loading and downloading a bunch of stuff but it froze up on me when I first turned it on! Then when I plugged in a usb drive I noticed the port on the right side was kinda outta line with the frame which makes me worry if I will have problems with it in the future. I have no problems with the computer right now the touch screen is alright video quality pretty good sounds is great I think it was just a start up thing but right now the computer is doing good. I would recommend getting the warranty though. Just in case because the computer made me a little worried coming right out of the box.

I bought this laptop thinking this was a great deal for the price with the stylus, of course you get what you pay for so I was expecting to upgrade the ram and change the Hard Drive to an SSS or M.2 so i can use it with photshop and stuff. To be fair, it is a great deal, sketchbook pro runs great. The problem was I got a defective stylus, incredible annoying I couldnt even do a single line without interruption I was furious since I bough the laptop primary for sketching. I did a little bit of research and I found out the Wacom Baboom ink works great with this laptop, now drawing is a pleasure, the problem is what is suppose to be a great deal end up being another one for the extra money I had to spend. Keep this in mind before purchase, the stylus that comes with the laptop is useless.

I’ve had this laptop for a few days now and it really just keeps getting better. The sound is great. The ease of flipping it into tablet mode is easier than I thought from the reviews I had read. Yes it is big and you can tell it’s big when your converting it to tablet but I like that is big. Painting on this is great a tiny bit of a lag but only with high resolution painting though. It’s very responsive on the touch screen.

I bought this laptop 6 weeks ago and enjoyed it up to this point. It started acting strange and slow yesterday and when I restarted it today it could no longer boot up. After an hour with HP support, the hard drive has failed and the whole thing is junk. Its past the 30 days for an Amazon return and HP is estimating 3-4 weeks to send it in and fix it, plus potential costs even though it is supposed to be under warranty. This laptop has only been used for school work, all if which is now lost.
