First let me say on day one I am pleased with the ease of setup (it quickly and easily links to all your Microsoft accounts and imports your information providing you remember your passwords) and the systems performance at high graphic rates is as to be expected from a "Gaming PC". However, it suffers from the requirement to activate Windows without the code being readily available and zero documentation in the box. A quick internet search turns up the solution: Open Windows Settings > Update and Security > Activation > Troubleshoot: the Windows troubleshooter should successfully activated the Operating System. This worked great for me and so it is only a minor issue but it could be a frustration to a new user. You also do hear the fan turn on and off as the system cools itself. Nothing major but there is a bit of noise.

1. Alienware R7 have only one m.2 SSD port by design and it been reserved by Intel Optane to improve your SATA starting speed. Your original M.2 SSDs will have a hard time to fit the new motherboard and end up with some adapters like me. 2. Although has poor design on M.2 ports, R7 is able to support multiple SATAs which is a pro. You will have extra two 2.5/3.5 SATA ports and their power cables are prepared and well organized, but you still need the data cables. 3. Like most desktops R7 has 4 memory ports and their combination matrix are: 8; 8, 8; 16, 16; 16, 16, 16, 16; I am not sure if other combination can be supported for example 8, 8, 16, 16; If not which means while you want to upgrade to 32gb memories you have to drop your 8gb memories and that is really a waste of money. I just bought two new 16gb memories and will update this review if I found anything new. 4. I wont say this fan is quiet enough during the game unless you wearing your headset all the time. 5. Lights are awesome, beautiful even to girls, like always. 6. It comes with a wire keyboard and wire mouse in qualities seems 20 bucks so you probably still need your mechanical keyboard and wireless mouses.

If you hate a noisy PC, this will blow you away with silence. I cant believe how quiet it is, it is so quiet that I cant hear it when gaming. It puts of some heat out the top, which I believe is what its supposed to do, so make sure you have air flow above it where it is being stored. The lighting on the case is very cool. I only have an issue sometimes when the left side panel lights cut out. All I have to do is tap my finger against it and it will come back on. Its probably a loose connection from when I removed it after I received it ( I had to look inside and check out the awesome vid card!). I have had no issues other than this lighting issue. At least none that are worth mentioning. I love it and am so glad I was able to purchase it! One downfall is the keyboard that accompanies the PC. It doesnt light up at all, which makes it hard to see in the dark, especially with a clear protector over it. I was using a lighted keyboard that went well with the lights on the PC case, but I spilled liquid on it and it got inside and corroded some connections. I had to resort to using the Alienware KB. It works great, other than not being lit up.

In the firts week the monitor driver failed requiring a Factory Image Reset that took 18 Hours, a week later the computer would not load the operating system no repair options worked requiring another Factory Image reset another 18 hours process. Now after 6 weeks the computer will not load the operating system again and not even a Factory image will work. So I called Dell tech support and they said it is a software problem and is is 0 warranty from day one and wanted a minimum $129.00 to help me trouble shoot. Amazon is now refunding my money and taking the unit back.

I have to admit, I love this computer. I was going to build mine from the ground up but with the prices of the GPUs I had talked to some other gaming buddies and searched for weeks until I came across this one. The graphics are amazing , very quiet fans , I get great frame rates in all the new games. The only issue I have had with this PC is the Killer e2500 network card keeps dropping my internet. I have looked into forums and videos about this and it seems to be a pretty common thing with this network card. I have to disable it and the re-enable and things are good after that for days at a time. There is times where the network card would fail and try to connect wireless as well. I would definitely recommend this computer otherwise. BIG BANG for your BUCK. Also if you buy this PC make sure you buy a DVI-D to VGA adapter converter as well if your using older monitors.

Received this as an early Yule Gift. It is the first computer that I have ever purchased rather than built, since the 1980s. The computer itself works flawlessly, has ample storage, and is very cool to look at. It has 2 glaring flaws which I will mention below. The Good: - Adequate power, even for modern (2018) gaming titles at 1440p. - Large hard drive (2TB) is also fine for almost any purpose. - Intel Optane module provides near SSD speed once an application has been run a couple of times. - Tower is very compact, definitely in the mid-tower size catagory or even small tower? - Lighting and bling factor is high... looks unlike a typical black crystal box PC tower. The Bad! - The air cooling system is woefully undersized and extraordinarily LOUD when the CPU is under heavy load. I build PCs on a several times a year basis, and the level of noise and accompanying thermals are just horrible. I purchased a closed loop liquid cooler to quiet it down. - The included power supply is only 460 watts! Though this is TECHNICALLY adequate, it leaves very little headroom for future upgrades or overclocking despite the overclocking overtones of the setup. Final Thoughts: Realistically this is a very powerful console. Yes its a Tower PC, but the case is tiny, the PSU is tiny, and the thermal headroom is non-existant until further upgrades are done to the system. By the time you purchase a good PSU, Case, and cooling solution, you could spec out an equivalent machine if you are a DIY person. For me its a great living room gaming PC now that it doesnt scream like a jet taking off whenever you load a game!

Great PC, especially for the price of around $1550. Only recommended upgrade is the Dell AIO liquid cooler. Otherwise you have to run the fans at nearly 100% to keep the CPU below 75C while under heavy loads...and that’s LOUD!!! With the AIO, the pc runs super quiet while keeping temps below 60C.

After doing a lot of research, I decided to buy this computer. Its a great machine, looks beautiful, has Dell support and was within my budget. I bought it primarily for video games. Im playing every modern game at max settings, and Im using a 27" 1440p 144hz monitor. This rig is handling it all flawlessly. I cant believe the difference in my graphics since upgrading the computer and my screen. Would buy again..

Bought this computer to replace a 7 year old gaming computer Dell XPS 8300. When computer arrived I logged in and installed Steam and Witcher 3, Kaspersky anti virus and a couple other Steam games. After two days apps wouldnt open. Tried to refresh pc but it failed. Reimaged pc and updated all drivers and OS. PC lasted about three weeks and video card crashed and pc locked up. Reimaged again and reinstalled everything. PC lasted a month and failed to start. Reimaged again and created restore points. Video card crashed while playing Diablo 3. Tried to run system diagnostics but it failed. Reimaged again. PC worked for a week and failed to start. I do not know if I just received a bad pc or if they are all like this. Very frustrated with the 20 plus hours Ive wasted trying to get this pc to work correctly. Would love a new pc or full refund. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After shipping my computer($45) to amazoncare@computercare.net and getting it back it still does not see the video card. Issue is worse now. Called Amazon support, talked to a guy in India who misunderstood me and sent me email to company that I purchased protection plan from. I didnt request a refund for the protection plan, I wanted the whole thing refunded, computer and all! I would like a refund!
