Short and sweet review. The autofocus is fast and the images are sharp edge to edge. It is MONSTROUSLY heavy for a mirrorless camera, but it is so much sharper than my other lenses (they are Zeiss as well) I cant really fault them.

A super sharp lens, on my Sony a7R II camera. The combination blows me away. This combination is now my walk around camera!

Terrific lens to use, coming from a previous Canon L-glass user.

I really like this lens, although I wish it were a bit lighter. Image quality is great, particularly in low light. Has a cinema like quality and the good bokeh surprises. I use it on a Sony a 7rII.

although alot of recommendations i found the image quality a bit soft in the middle when in video mode. this lens seemed dated and is too heavy for the a7 iii there should be no reason why this is so heavy its not even a cine lens

Tried multiple copies, all serverly decentered. Avoid this expensive mistake of a lens.

Ive tried about 10-11 Zeiss and Sony lenses in my career, and this 35mm is by far the best of its class. Beautiful color rendition, bokeh, and solid design. Optical quality is off the chart. And on the amazing sensor of the A7r II it SHINES even more. Get it if you have the money, seriously.

Using it with my Sony A6500 and the image is REALLY clean. It has great focus speed and the built quality of it is real clean. It is a heavy lens, so it can weigh a bit after a while, but if that doesnt bother you, definitely consider it. Ive attached a picture, with no post edits shot in continuous burst.

This lens is very sharp and well balanced! Paired with the A7S a flash is not needed in low light conditions.

Sum up in 2 words: Great lens. It looks big, but is not heavy. I mounted it on my A7ii,and have good balance, no hurting neck after 4 hours walking around. IQ is superb, with a bit distortion and very low to almost no CA. Its very sharp at 1.4, but if you stop down to 2.0, everything is perfect. P/s:The image is cropped heavily (>1:1)
