I’ve been a fan of BenQ for a while. This is the 4th one I’ve purchased, but this is the first one I’ve bought for personal use. This projector far exceeded my expectations. The short throw is amazing. We have the projector mounted about 8 feet away from the wall and we now have a 155” “TV”. The brightness is great you can see just fine even with the lights on. You actually forget that you’re watching a projected image instead of a TV. We LOVE this projector.

Awesome projector in this price range. Im just projecting directly onto my white wall and it looks great. I have it connected it my receiver and speakers so the built-in speakers werent really a factor for me, but I tested them and they sound surprisingly good! It was super easy to set up, and there are lots of handy adjustment settings to get everything just right. I can even watch it when its still light outside. Recommended!

This rating is more for the seller than the product. We received two units. The first was one failed after the first few hours of use. I would expect some failures to leave the factory so it was understandable I’d be the lucky recipient. The return process through Amazon was quick and easy (TBD as we haven’t returned the broken one yet) with a fast turn around. What was clear after setting up the new unit is that the previous was either used or refurbished as it did not come with any protective plastic wrap around it and no ‘wizard’ on first power up (I thought it was odd the default was ceiling hanging view - upside down - on initial power up). The product itself is very good. Installed on a low ceiling right above our heads and it’s nice and quiet. It’s about 9 feet back projecting on a 100” screen. It’s a bit dim but at 2200 lumens this is expected. We have a light controlled room so it’s easy to go almost pitch black. We’ve played quite a few movies and ps4 and Switch and it’s nice and fast. No tearing, no motion blur. I would buy again.

I am very pleased with this projector. It is capable of a very large picture in even small rooms. Sound is quite good with the two built in speakers, although I would recommend dedicated speakers for large spaces or outdoor movies. Picture quality is excellent with deep blacks and good color accuracy. Overall I am very happy with this projector and would recommend to anyone. Returned an Epson 1040 to get this one and I am very happy with the decision!

Nice projector. Been using it in a church setting on a mobile cart for multiple users projecting on a 100" screen. Only 1 issue. The short throw lens protrudes out of the front of projector just by a little which means its exposed to things like tape or books that people place in front of lens to block image before they are ready. Have to either replace lens or by new projector because lens is scratched. Update 1/20/2019: I was able to contact Benq without much difficulty and order a replacement lens for around $160USD. It didnt come with any repair instructions. Im a pretty good engineer so after a careful 2 hours I replaced the lens. New clear lens worked great.

The projector picture output is amazing. Short Throw projectors are a bit challenging installing due to its positioning limits. This unit worked out for me due to space limits. BenQ support is very good with helping out if you run into issues with the installation. I did an extensive amount of research on this product and it was well worth it. I have paired the project with a STR-169120 Silver Ticket 120" Diagonal 16:9 4K white screen. I would like to also mention video games look amazing. This purchase is excellent for a basement application for less than $1500.00.

This was a really great buy! My wife was a skeptic and is now a believer! We were preparing for a basement remodel. One thing I knew I wanted from the start was a projector. After researching for several weeks, and dozens of websites and home theater review sites, I went the Wirecutters pick, this BenQ HT2050a. It was the right choice. So far all pros and only the normal projector con of ambient light. The thing is, with this projector, that isnt even much of a con. Using the Vivid TV mode, its acceptable to watch with normal ambient daylight (mind you, not full on, no curtains, bright daylight). This is my first experience owning a projector, but it is enough to convince me that it was the right way to go.

Bought this projector for my home theater, and it doesnt disappoint. The image is bright and clear. Didnt need much calibration, but the image and colors pop off the screen. This being a DLP projector, some may be prone to RBE (rainbow effects) in high-contrast scenes or with scenes with a lot of movement. I dont see any of it with this projector, but everybody is different. The fan is very quiet, even in eco mode. I mounted this projector to the ceiling with a Chief RPAU mount, and its solid as a rock. I have absolutely zero qualms with this projector, and Im using it almost every single day for movies and gaming. **UPDATE** After using this PJ almost daily for two years, Im still VERY impressed with the brightness, clarity, and image that it produces. Absolutely zero issues.

Im using this in the basement, Ive blocked out the windows down there and its a dark environment. My current setup is as close as I can get to the screen and Im using a high quality reflective 100" screen mounted on the wall. The picture quality is fantastic, I wasnt expecting a flatscreen OLED display, but dam this thing does really well. Saturation is great, contrast is great, gamma adjustments and other color fine tuning are available. Latency while gaming is amazing, if youve never played games on a 100" screen then prepared to be amazed, especially racing titles! Bang for your buck, I cant imagine it was possible to do better.

Bought this for my husbands theater/gaming room and he absolutly loves it! If your a gamer then my husband says youll be happy to know its super low latencey and does 120hz. Plus it does 3D very nicely. You will need to make sure your source is capable of 120hz and possibly upgrade your HDMI cable to 2.0 to make sure you get the 120hz. If you dont or cant this projector still looks amazing even at a little lower refreash rate. My husband recommends getting a 100 - 120" Silver Ticket screen with this to really set it all off beautifully. Im not an experienced audio or video nut like my husband but after experiencing what he has built in our home Im truely speechless.
