Note that is refurbished. The box was not in the best shape. But the device itelf is fine. And the price is right. Installation and operation are trivial. Navigating the menus is really simple and straightforward. It is really compact and doesn’t take up much room. PROs: + Compact. + Cheap + Plays Blu-ray & DVD
The first refurbished one I purchased, was defective. I played a Blu-ray and within the first 15 min the screen went black. Kept doing that on and off until it finally shut off. I then tried a DVD and it did the same thing. It also was sent to me with the remote control missing the battery cover. So I purchased a second refurbished one and when I received that, it was all intact and I have watched one Blu-ray and 4 dvds so far with no problem. I think the main thing to think about when buying this is since it is refurbished it may still have issues so definitely test it out as much as you can within the first 30 days to make sure it works well. I think this is a pretty good deal. And I had no trouble returning it to get a refund (I returned it within 2 weeks).

I have yet to be able to get this to play a single thing. It consistently tells me that my disc is unreadable, whether i put in a Blu-ray or a dvd. The same discs work perfectly fine in my ps4, though. Very disappointed that i wasted my money on this.
I really like this Blu-Ray player. You can’t even tell it’s refurbished. It’s small and sleek enough to go well with my black glass TV stand. The remote works using easy-to-find batteries. The picture quality is awesome. It was a breeze to set up. You just need your own HDMI cable, which isn’t hard to come by. I already had several. This has met my needs very well. I’m only deducting one star because the home screen isn’t very attractive. It just looks kind of weird and also lags a bit when reading discs. But it’s not a major issue.
Picture didnt fit the 1080 screen. Will not by "refurbished" stuff from Amazon.
It is good looking but with no HDMI cable to connect with Ipad or TV. In the enclosed operation instructions it is clearly written that High Speed HDMI cable be used to connect to TV. It constitutes basic accessory and should have come along. On line shopping is done by those who have no time or are old and cannot go out like me.
Did it have scratches? Yes. Was it refurbished? Yes. Did it operate flawlessly? Yes. The size is perfect. We got a BD player cause we realized that we wanted to watch some discs we had laying around. For <$40 this is a steal.
DISLIKES: 1. BUYER BEWARE!! I was just about to return the DVD player because it wasnt turning on at all and I had assumed they sent me a defective DVD player. Right before I went on Amazon to fill out a return request I thought about unplugging it from the extension cord and plugging it directly to the wall to see if that would do anything. I was at the point that I was thinking of really dumb things just to get it to turn on. Surprisingly, it worked! The DVD player doesnt function when plugged up to an extension cord but works perfectly when directly plugged into the wall socket. If it doesnt turn on for you, try this. 2. You have to purchase additional accessories for the DVD player to work: (HDMI CABLE-$10 at Walmart and LAN cable $4 at Walmart) I didnt mind paying extra but I did mind not being able to use my DVD player right away because I wasnt aware that the player didnt come with these things. Why dont they just include this stuff and charge extra? Or at least make it impossible for the buyer to know that they need to purchase additional things for the player to work. 3. The LAN cable is what gives you the internet connection and needs to be plugged into your router. (not wireless) LIKES: 1. Price 2. Size (small DVD player) 3. Blue-ray 4. Name-brand 5. Fast-Shipping (It came the next day) 6. Wathcing things on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. is super easy and quick. 7. Once the kinks are all figured out it works great!
Purchased this unit and the recommended HDMI cable, after following the Sony direction provided in the package, the unit never turned on. It appeared to be in standby mode but would never power on. I tried both HDMI ports on my TV (which I have used with other devices) and nothing. I know the reviews are all over the place for this thing. Maybe mine was just a lemon, but the price does seem too good to be true for this device so Ill be ordering a plain old DVD player next
