Unit died after two days. Hopefully the replacement has better longevity! UPDATE: The second replacement arrived DOA! Dont you folks do any type of quality control testing before you send stuff out? THIRD UNIT ALSO DIED! STAY AWAY FROM THESE CRAPPY REFURBS!!

I received this order yesterday. Upon taking it out of the box I could hear loose pieces inside of the DVD player rattling around. Upon plugging it up, hoping for the best, It required numerous updates. That part might be expected. I put in a standard DVD and it played, but it would not play 4K. I put in three different 4K Blu-ray‘s none of them would play. One did start the credits and then the screen blacked out. I went to Best Buy and purchased a different Blu-ray player using the same HDMI cable and television. Everything works flawlessly. I plugged this refurbished unit back up, and the 4K movies would not play. I’m sure not all of the refurbished units are defective, but mine certainly was, along with rattling loose parts inside the housing, and I would not want to get it replaced with another refurbished Adam.

Never used the unit. It arrived with the the following defect: the remote was unable to communicate with the player. Either the remote or the player/remote interface were defective. I wrote twice to the vendor, but received no reply. The player did work via the controls on the front panel. I returned the unit.

EDIT: I returned this player for two reasons. First, after I plugged this unit into the power outlet, the Cable Modem I had plugged in on the same circuit started randomly rebooting!!!! Took me a while to figure out this player was somehow causing that! I dont know how this player, even when powered off could cause some kind of electrical interference that would cause a cable modem to reboot!?!? But after unplugging this player, the cable modem stopped rebooting! RETURNED!!! Also, while watching a disk, the TV screen would go black randomly for a couple of seconds. It did not happen a lot, but maybe a couple of times each disk. Too bad - otherwise I would have kept this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I needed to replace a 10 year old Sony blue-ray player that was on its last legs. Was going to buy another Sony, but all their models reviews seemed to state that they freeze and need to be unplugged which was what my old unit did a lot too. So I figured I would get a Samsung to match my TV. Overall, I think this is a good value. I just hope it lasts! I was leery of a refurb as I only had purchased one other Amazon refurb in the past which worked out great. For me, the unit came in the factory box, and the packaging was professional with everything sealed in plastic. The remote looked brand new, and came with a new battery and a new HDMI cord. The unit itself had scratches on the top like it was in an AV stack. Pros: * When playing a regular DVD, the upscale worked really great. * Easy setup. * Works great with a Samsung TV Smart Controller. * Full feature set, and has some features that others are missing. Cons: * When playing a Bluray disk, the upscale was not as good as I expected. Pretty much looked like standard 1080P to me. * No front display anymore. Seems like all the manufacturers have gotten away from a front display for some reason. * When you power off the unit and power it back on, the disk starts from the beginning and not where you left off. VERY ANNOYING! You have to search for where you left off.

Ive never hesitated to purchase refurbished electronics. In fact I usually look for them since Ive never had an issue with any and the savings can be great. That is until this purchase. I had a bad feeling when the box wasnt even sealed. When I took the player out of the box I immediately saw scratches all over the top case. They were so deep (and circular for some reason) that it looked like it was not only used, but abused. I was surprised to see a business card from Samsung claiming proudly that they certified it. I expected more from them. At this time Ive decided to get an exchange to see if it was a fluke. If it looks the same Ill be sending it back for a refund and purchase a new model.
