As has been often the case with Epson high-cost photo printers over the last few years, this printer would not recognize the original manufacturer ink cartridges and charge them so that a test print could be made. Taking out the cartridges and reinstalling achieved the same result. Also, voiding he installation and starting it over again resulted in a cartridge charging stage that would not operate because the printer claimed that there were no cartridges in the printer. This is why I am going to bite the bullet and spend a lot more for a professional Canon photo printer at nearly twice the cost. The previous Epson printer, the R3000, lasted about 3.5 years before the print head said bye-bye. High end Epson products simply have poor manufacturing quality control -- there is no other way around this conclusion. Finally, be warned about 6th Avenue Electronics. They are honoring my Amazon Prime return of this P600 printer, but please be aware that THEY WILL NOT PAY TO PICK UP THE PRINTER!! You have to lug it to the nearest UPS dropoff point. For me in semi-rural NC, that is a 64 mile round trip in and out of Wilmington NC.
