Sending mine back. Was not hard to set up, but constantly getting error messages. I have a busy office and do not have the time to keep dealing with all the issues (its offline / the error says call the dealer / send things to print, it prints 2 hours later) The user manual and start up manual do not answer a majority of issues, we keep having to google all our questions. Very disappointed since this was rated well on a number of sites. My first time purchasing a Canon printer and probably my last.

The scan quality and print quality are absolutely amazing. This will not make better prints than Costco or some other picture place, but documents and small pictures look great. I had an older Canon multifunction that scanned pictures and drawings pretty poorly. The scan quality is professional grade on this one. I have professional Canon scanners at work and love them. The scanned documents remind me of the professional ones I work with. The installed software allows me to print in grayscale (black and white) as well as color. Since I am cheap, I only want to print color on occasions, not all the time. It also has duplexing that allows you to print double-sided. This can be turned on and off per print job just like color vs. B+W. This multifunction can print wirelessly and wired. I use wired because its faster and I have a data jack where I keep it. I did use it wirelessly and it performed fast and flawlessly. If you have a thumb drive with pictures or documents, you can print straight from the thumb drive without using a computer. The document feeder is fast and accurate. The document feeder can scan dual sides in a single pass.

My entire office is completely upset about this machine. We have a networked Brother machine that works witho0ut any interruption. Our computers (PCs & Macs in the office) cant find the machine. It disconnects & changes IP addresses. I had to call support to get it working the first time. Thereafter Ive had to delete the printer & reload the drivers & start fresh (wasting precious work hours) almost every time Id go back to the office. Now - nobody in the office can print - not even via a hard line (usb). Wed spent so much time trying to get it to work & now itd beyond the return date.

I got this printer from Amazon for 259.99, two days later the price dropped to 244.99. But no problem, I called in and Amazon willingly refunded the different back to my account(kudo Amazon!) Ive used the printer for few days and here I what Ive found out: PRO: 1. Well built, will look good on your desk (I got white color) 2. Very easy to do wireless setup (you do it directly from the printer) 3. Got no problem to print from my PC/laptop/samsung S9/iPhone 7 4. Text is very sharp and clear (as we expect from a laser printer) 5. Fast printing 6. Copying/Scaning working normally as expected 7. 3 year warrany from Canon CON: 1. A little heavy (OK for me) but youre a petite woman, you should need help. 2. A little bulky, could be an issue if you have small desk. 3. Starting up take a little longer than my liking. 4. Its good if you print some color graphic page, but when printing photo/pictures; dont expect the quality as you got from an Epson injet printer). This is a color laser printer, not a photo printer. WHAT I DONT KNOW YET 1. How long the starter cartridge will last. 2. How good/compatible if you want to use 3rd toner cartridges (since a set of high yield Canon OEM cartridges will cost you 399.01 (much more than the brand new printer itself))

I have owned it for 8 months and I have yet to be able to get it to scan to a flash drive or to a computer. I am more knowledgeable about printers than the average user because I have owned a printing store for the last 20 years and I have purchased at least 2 million dollars worth of small and commercial size printers. I use Canon printers of all sizes on a daily basis but this one seems to be the unfriendliest ever. It is a piece of crap for me because I bought it specifically to scan documents in my office privately. WiFi never connecting. Each time we need to print, we have to restart the modem or the machine. Each and every time. The modem is only 10 feet away from it.

I bought this after a fair amount of research and reading many Amazon Reviews. I give this 2 Thumbs up - 5 stars all the way. I am a small business needing very sophisticated looking Laser printing. Speed is not specifically the issue, however it is very fast. The issue is elegant looking business pieces - whether black & white or color. It took me exactly 1 hour to set the Wi-Fi. I went to the Canon website and followed the instruction perfectly. Setting up the Scanning etc was fast. Very pleased with this purchase. This is my first Canon printer too.

Ive had all kinds of laser and inkjet printers over the years, and this Canon is the latest in my lineup. I never skimp on price. Id rather pay more and get a printer I dont have to stand around and twiddle my thumbs waiting for. And let me just tell you, this thing is seriously fast. No, listen... its crazy fast!! Compared to the top-of-the-line Epson it replaced, theres just no comparison. If you want a super fast printer, this one will put a smile on your face. Unfortunately, there are some things about this Canon that frustrate the life out of me: 1. There is a code you have to enter if you want to access certain setup functions of the printer. Fair enough. But it took me forever and a day to find out what the code was! I had never been asked to enter my own code during the setup process, but there it was now, asking me to enter a 7-digit code in order to proceed. It took a good bit of online searching to figure this one out. 2. I have certificates that I have to print every month for people who have completed a course. Ive been printing these for years -- exact same template, exact same certificate paper -- and Ive never had a problem with any previous printer. But the first time I ran one of these blank certificates through the manual paper feed slot in the front of the printer, it came out with all the persons information printed slightly crooked. "Hmm, maybe I did something wrong." I tried it again, being very careful to line up the guides perfectly on each side of the paper. Crooked again! So just for the heck of it, I decided to print the same document on standard blank paper, feeding it from the main paper tray instead of the manual feed. And guess what... perfectly straight! I called Canon and they took me through all the steps of removing the manual feed tray, checking the sprockets, etc. Everything appeared to be fine. But the paper prints crooked every stinking time from the front slot. They said I could return the printer for a replacement, but my replacement would be a refurbished printer. Uhh, no thanks! Im not trading a brand new printer less than a week old for a used, refurbished one! Really disappointing for such a nice printer, so my workaround is just to use the paper tray instead, even though its not ideal for heavier paper. 3.But the issue that really drives me round the bend is that immediately after your print job finishes, the printer goes into a very long series of noises and calibrations. It sounds exactly like more pages are being printed, which makes you do two stupid things: It instinctively makes you run to your computer to check the print queue, even though youre pretty darn sure you didnt submit another job. It also makes you stand in front of the printer like an idiot, just staring at it and waiting for more paper to come out... which it never does. It just eventually quiets down and goes back to sleep. This makes me want to take a baseball bat to the thing, because it seems like its never going to quit! Well, every printer Ive ever owned has had some quirks, so Im not expecting this one to be perfect. The two things that matter most to me are speed and print quality. As Ive already said, speed is off the charts, and as for print quality... honestly, its off the charts, too. Color documents look like theyve been professionally printed, as opposed to that dull look you get from inkjets. So all in all, Im still happy to give this printer 4 stars, because, despite its issues, it exceeds my expectations in the two areas I really care about. If those two things are important to you, this printer will certainly deliver!

Using this on a OS X 10.11.6 with a USB connection. Installed the drivers a few times. This printer has a problem coming out of sleep mode. And there is no way to disable sleep mode. After it sits unused for a few hours, it will just not print. No error message. The OS X Printer manager reports that the printer is "printing" however nothing happens. The printer LCD screen is on as if the printer is out of sleep mode. I tried to turn the printer off then on, still nothing. VERY DISSAPPOINTING. I had a Brother HL-53 monochrome laser with no issues. It could stay months at a time in sleep mode and would work. Will not buy Canon again. DO NOT BUY.

I have a brother b&w laser printer and decided to get a color laser. The canon was reasonably priced for me and seemed to do everything that I want it to do. I have had it for a year now. The printer always had minor streaks and fades, but then it began to get worse until it is like you see in the picture above. I have tried troubleshooting and done everything that is suggested by the canon website including cleaning the assembly, cleaning the paper feeder, having it go through condensation settings, trying different settings through the control panel to clear up smudging, ink spots, fading, etc. No matter what I do, the streaking and fading is so terrible that it cannot be used for anything. Its that bad. So this makes this a complete waste of time for me and I"m out however much I paid for it originally (I dont even remember). In addition, the scanner never worked for me from day one. It definitely is communicating with my computer to sending some kind of data after scanning, but then it says I dont have the right scanner software and then exits out. This is after I loaded the latest combined driver which has the scanner software included in it, so exactly what scanner software is it that I dont have if its not offered by the company itself in their latest software download? Frustrating! I even decided to load several optional scanner drivers, but no luck and a supreme waste of my time. So Im out a scanner as well. Finally, little things that are aggravating as well. For instance, I was locked out of the device so I couldnt even set it up originally without having to call canon so that they could tell me the preset code to get into the scanner. I dont remember having to call brother when setting up their printer. Oh, and there is no interface software on the pc that allows you to do anything. Thats right, nothing. If you use the utility program that creates a shortcut that comes with the downloaded software driver, it just sends you to the website to download the latest driver. What? Everything has to be done on the device itself. With brother printers, or HP, there are programs that allow you to interface with your computer to the device and change settings, troubleshoot, preview a scan, monitor, etc. Not a thing like that for canon. I really regret buying this. I will call canon sometime or other because Im so busy right now, even writing this review is time out of my day that is inconvenient, but I was so angry that I had to write this to warn anyone else who may buy this piece o S. I may just buy another color laser from brother or HP because I really dont have time to continually troubleshoot this piece O S.

Excellent quality color printer. MUCH higher quality than any printer Ive owned in the last 20 years. Simple setup, never "falls off" the wifi signal like so many other printers Ive owned, extremely vivid color prints with excellent quality, simple, one-pass duplex printing. The black cartridge still says its 50% full after 11 months of printing. My inkjet printers always needed more ink after around 4 months, even with "XL" cartridges. Toner cartridges are pricey - around $40 each, but if they last a year and a half theyre much cheaper than inkjet ink. Even if toner was the same price as ink, Id still be thrilled because its such a better quality print.
