Brother Wireless Digital Color Printer with Convenience Copying and Scanning (HL-3180CDW), Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled

Lord in heaven is this thing amazing. The printer I replaced this with was a color laser printer as well. I had it for 2 years and the toner costs were astronomical. I had started to buy toner refill and that was better, but still pricey. I apparently reused the toner cartridges too many times because one broke in the printer and the whole thing was covered in magenta powder. WHOOPS. So this time I searched for a printer based on the cost of the toner cartridges. This printer had the most economical toner prices and I really liked its features. My last printer had an automatic feed tray for copying multiple pages. I was a little bummed that this one didnt have that, but I did that so infrequently I just shrugged and bought it. Im so so so happy with it. Its been a few weeks of me using it constantly. I own a preschool and did all my back to school printing with it- newsletters, calendars, name tags, attendance logs, etc. Incredible quality and pretty good printing speed. I LOVE the wifi feature. I have both a desktop at home and a laptop and its great to be able to have the laptop send to print wirelessly! If I encounter anything negative I will update my review.

Cable necessary but No cable comes with product - dont you hate having to go to the store and search for the right cable? It defeats the purpose of shopping online. Set-up manual is worthless and zero weekend support. No videos on this product on Brothers website. Nothing about setting this printer up is self-explanatory. I will be purchasing an HP. Why I bother with anything is beyond me - they break or are too time consuming to figure out.

I am not a business, but I purchased this printer because I was tired of buying overpriced ink cartridges. I bought the printer and a full set of replacement toner cartridges. I didnt realize that the "starter" toner cartridges would last this long! I purchased this on March 17th, 2018. We use our printer a lot... much more than the average household. I would estimate that we print 10-20 copies a day. But after over 3 months I checked the status of the "starter" cartridges and they were still indicating that they were "new", or completely full At this rate they should last nearly a year, and the full cartridges I purchased as a replacement should last for another 2 years. That makes this one of the best purchases Ive made in a long time. It printers flawless copies, including photos onto photo-quality paper. It was very easy to set up for wireless printing from our household of 2 iPhone Xs, 1 iPhone 6S+ and a Galaxy 8 Android phone and all print easily. it is as fast as any other printer Ive seen, including the $10,000 printers at work. Its one the best Amazon purchases Ive ever made. Based on 3+ months of heavy use I highly recommend the Brother HL-3180CDW. BTW: I am not a paid reviewer or promoter of Brother, Amazon or anybody else. Just a very satisfied customer!

Not a bad printer, just came with a defective toner cartridge that made all the reds orange....Im glad I bought some cheap replacements from a company on here called MIROO, it was needed. I simply replaced all of the starter cartridges with the new MIROO ones and all was fixed. Printing looks fine and Im glad that the cheaper alternatives exist to make this usually expensive chore much more affordable :) As for the printer itself, it works great. A bit slow when started up, but fast enough once it gets going. Set up was a breeze, with the touchscreen and well done menu system making short work of both usb connected and wireless setup. Pity the printer didnt ship with said usb cable, though, thats simply not acceptable given the higher price of this printer. Shame on you for cheaping out on us, Brother! Despite the bad cartridge and the missing usb cable, I still recommend this as a great overall lower cost(once you factor in the lower cost replacement cartridges available)all in one for the home office. Dont forget to order a usb cable!!

Printer works great. Fed-Ex shipping was a fiasco (as it usually the case with Fed-Ex, it seems), but the printer did arrive on time and in great shape. Set up is extremely easy if you are tech savvy, and easy enough if you arent. I didnt use the manual to set it up for the most part. The touch screen works great, though as others have said, is somewhat slow to respond and you have to press on it harder than with other touch screens. Still leagues better than a simple LCD menu system. Holds quite a bit of paper and prints pretty quickly. Had HP printers in the past, but I think HP quality as declined drastically over the past several years, so giving Brother a shot. My biggest gripe about printers is the fact that they all come with starter cartridges. Please, someone make one with full cartridges!!! It would cost THAT much more to fill up the cartridges that you already include with the printer! Though, in the money-hungry corporate greed world we live in, this is how they get away with effectively charging us more than it should really cost to get a printer with full cartridges because you have to buy the printer AND a set of cartridges! Ive only had the printer for a few days, and dont print that much at all, so well see how long the starter cartridges last and then Ill have to buy more. Did a few test prints, and even at a normal setting, it prints pretty descent color pics, considering its a laser printer. Nowhere near what a photo-quality inkjet can do, but not bad either. Pretty big printer, but not any larger than other color laserjet printers. Smaller than the 8-year old HP it replaced (which, by they way DID come with full cartridges, and I never ran out of toner in 8 years, simply because dont print much)

Update - one month later: We are both very glad we chose this printer. Great prints both in black/white and color. None of the ink-smearing issues of our previous ink jet printers. Recommended. —————— Original review So far we are very happy with our new laser printer. Its our first laser printer after owning many ink-jet printers. The prints look great! Crisp and clear. My main experience previously with laser printers is at work. I am tired of our previous ink-jet printers being messy, expensive per-print, always clogging, and being essentially disposable items that we burn out after a couple years if we are lucky. If I decide to go ink-jet again, I have had better luck with Epson than HP. As far as the warm-up time that some reviewers complain about between this printer vs inkjet, we hardly notice it. I was happy to see that laser printers are coming down in price. After looking at this printer plus a few that were more expensive, this one seems to be a good combination of quality for the price. Relatively easy set up. Seems durable. Good feedback from Brother so far.

Ive had this for 4 months now and I can say that this was one of my best purchases. This replaced and HP inkjet. I will never go back! I needed to scan something to my mac today and it was so easy. Put the document on the scanner, press scan on the screen, press the link on the screen to my mac, and press ok. When I went back to my mac the folder with the scanned document was open and there it was. Night and day from my HP experience where the stupid thing eventually couldnt find the wifi (even though it said it was connected) and wouldnt even scan to an SD card inserted directly into the printer. Its also fast. I have it default to mono to save on the color toner cartridges.

I did a lot of research before I bought this, and Im extremely happy with my choice. I love, love, love this printer. I upgraded from an HP inkjet because I got tired of spending so much money on ink. Im a teacher, so I do a LOT of printing. First of all- this printer is SO much faster than inkjet! It is going to save me a lot of time in the evenings, which is very valuable to me. And its quiet, too! I also love that it can print double sided. But the best thing is how much money I am saving on ink! Yes, the toner is more expensive initially, but it lasts an incredibly long time, and it doesnt dry out like ink often does. The only minor cons are that its quite big and heavy. Not a big deal to me. If you are on the fence, just get it, you will be glad you did.

This machine is absolutely incapable of staying connected to a network for more than a day. Ive tried every suggestion and tip given by Brother and by other users but ultimately nothing works. Theres nothing that Brother has provided with software or anything else to make this machine work with ease. That with the added cost of toner (that seems to dissipate at an alarming rate) makes this machine impractical. Pass on this printer for one that actually works and doesnt guzzle toner.

Madly in love with it so far. It is super easy to set up. So far, Ive copied and copied 2 per page and also double-sided pages. Ive used it to print and to print double sided. Ive also used it to scan books and convert to plain text. It does a pretty good job at OCRing, but Ive yet to learn how to make it do all the things my Omnipage OCR software does...so Ive decided to just scan to File (saving scans to pdfs) and the I drop THEM into my waiting Omnipage and have that program do the actually OCR and zoning work, etc. I LOVE how fast it scans, btw. I will now get rid of two portable scanners I have that arent nearly as fast. Im very glad we bought this printer!! (We had 2 or 3 inkjets sitting around clogged up and unusable as a result -- we dont use em enough to keep the ink from drying out. THATs why we have turned to this new Brother. We shouldnt have any more ink drying up issues.)
