I always used Epson before buying my first Brother printer scanner. Needed a 11x17 size scanner and printer. Turns out to be a great scanner with high dpi scanning upto 2400 dpi. Works great as printer except that first black ink ran out pretty fast. Just ordered a large capacity one. Let’s see how long this one last.
As advertised
Nothing but problems with this printer since the beginning. First, it didnt ship with black starter ink cartridge. The machine cannot be used or set up without the starter ink cartridge. Took a while to figure this out, but finally got them to send the starter cartridge. Of course, it doesnt last long so I quickly ran out of ink. I went to three local stores to find replacement cartridges and NONE of them stock this particular variant. Had to order online. When the ink showed up, the nozzles on the printer required cleaning. The unit consumed the entire cartridges - ALL OF THEM- to clean the nozzles. Again, no store locally carry the cartridges so I had to order online and wait. Software doesnt work properly. There is no way to toggle of duplex printing. Brother Support only points me toward online documents that I could already find myself with a quick Google search. The guidance documents dont help because I can get to a check box to turn off duplex printing. Tried downloading new drivers, and still cant change settings. The display interface is not intuitive at all. Scanning software didnt install with the driver. Contacted Brother help/support and it takes weeks for a response and they are not helpful. The machine is huge and heavy. If they cannot help set this thing up properly very soon, Im ready to trash it and start over. I rarely regret a purchase so much. This one, has been very regrettable - expensive, big, doesnt work, and poor support.

Good printer but setting the unit up on a wireless network was difficult. Unit would connect to the network but computer said it was off-line. Tried multiple solutions. Finally got it working by letting Microsoft Windows install the driver instead of Brother.
Great price for a large format printer.
Not made for an office with high volume printing. We ran out of black ink within 2 weeks of purchasing the printer. Other than that, its great.
This machine is listed as "business smart" but I have found it to be anything but that. The machine is about the same size and weight as its similar large format equipment, but the comparison fall way short from there. There is only one paper tray and changing from letter to ledger is cumbersome, at best. No researching that aspect is my fault. The scanner provides only PDF support and no jpeg for graphic support. The ink supply is costly and miniscule for business applications and 11"x17" use. The latest big problem is that there are no replacement ink cartridges within 100 miles of my office, including the Denver area. The cartridge shows almost 20% ink left in the black cartridge, but nothing is printing. The only solution from customer support is to buy on line, but told me that Walmart is listed as a supplier. Two hours on the phone found nothing in our region to keep this machine an line. Again, poor support for business applications. I have only had the machine in the office for a few weeks and am disgusted. I will probably give it to one of the grade school kids in our area and go buy an Epson Workforce machine for my printing needs.
I have used HP printers for years and always seemed to struggle with them and was not really satisfies with them. So I decided to try a different brand this time.....why did I wait so long? I love this printer! Prints much quicker and just works. I will buy Brother again
