Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7-8750H 6 Core, GeForce RTX 2060, 15.6" FHD 144Hz, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Chroma RGB Keyboard, Thunderbolt 3, 0.70" thin, CNC Aluminum

I was on the fence between this and a MSI GS65 Stealth with an RTX card. Overall I chose this one. There is not another RTX machine that has this build quality, battery life, performance and form factor. The 144HZ frame rate is butter smooth and totally worth sacrificing a 4K display for. All of this is what you are paying extra for and it is worth it. RTX 2070 Max Q is more than plenty for the latest and greatest. Most of everything I run from Forza Motorsport to Apex can run up to around at least 100 FPS with temps around 76 degrees Celsius maximum on the CPU and GPU. It gets hot toward the top middle but it’s always away from your hands at WASD, so unless you’re looking you won’t feel it. I can get around 8 hours without the charger without doing anything graphic intense, 2 hours using games and editing 4K video from drones and go pro. This thing will not struggle under load. Keyboard is nice, but sometimes if you’re a fast typer it can seem like you’re not pressing the keys and you’ll end up pressing them twice. They are very light feeling. I would recommend buying the 256 GB version and replacing the SSD with a 1TB on arrival. The 512 filled up with the OS with 400 GB left for two games and a few videos and photos. If you feel like it, the RAM is also replaceable and easy to access from the bottom panel. In my experience there ya been no coil whine and the fans make hardly no noise unless you’re playing in razor synapse manually running fans at 5k rpm. I have also not experienced any thermal throttling. This thing holds frames. A few problems I’ve found: mostly software. The new RTX max Q design cards are really new so the drivers have been giving me issues. I updated my nVidia driver to the latest and started getting many BSOD problems. Loading games were also causing DirectX errors. I was able to roll back the driver and no issues have came back. When downloading from Origin I would have to manually create folders and move all the files out of the DirectX setup folders in order for the downloads to complete. Again this is software and not Razer’s fault. Also, the bright green Razer logo is pretty cheesy, but this is easily turned off in Razer Synapse if you are in a darker room in public and don’t want to look like a big douche. Buy this laptop.

Probably the best machine I have ever owned. If I cap screen refresh to 60hz it never even gets warm on my games. On 144 for fps games Im mildly mindful of positioning so the vents get optimal flow. I have had no coil whining noted in other reviews on my unit. Power cable is pretty beefy especially when put next to the super thin blade. The brick is thinish and not overly warm though in my use.

Hadnt had a gaming laptop for 7 years and it would seem that the technology for the gaming laptop has advanced a lot. Screen looks great and works well. Keyboard feels nice and solid. Overall quality is quite good in my opinion. By itself, It can run Call of Duty BO4 on medium settings with 170fps - 200fps without any problem. It can also run R6 Siege at +70fps on High settings so that is great. It is a good investment for gaming on the go or working at a job. Now I have other things that I used to make my laptop a little more special. -Replaced the 16 GB ram with 32 GB ram. -Replaced the 500 GB storage with 2TB Samsung EVO -Use an external keyboard, mouse, and a monitor for a bigger screen. -Razer Core V2 eGPU with a 980 ti (Gonna replace it with an RTX 2080 TI in the future.) This is my perfect home gaming set up for when I need something more heavy intensive as well as reducing the heat and stress on my laptop. The best part of all this is that it is all connected to my Razer Core V2 which only takes up the thunderbolt slot and nothing else. To take it on the go would just require me to disconnect that and done. I only have two things connected to the laptop at home and that is the power adapter and the Thunderbolt 3 to the Razer Core. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.

Razer quality control still needs work. My first unit arrived with a dent in one speaker and bad backlight bleed in one spot at the bottom of the screen. Replacement was perfect. This is an awesome machine. Time will tell if the thermals stay good but for right now BFV ran great with DXR at acceptable temperatures.

I have no intentions of gaming and only periodically use the graphics card for running some GPU accelerated software (Im a security researcher). I needed a good CPU and the ability to upgrade the RAM to 64GB. This is one of the only laptops on the market that gave the specs I need (at the time) in a small form factor. I expected that things would clock down and Id be able to get good battery life out of it when not under extreme load. Just watching some youtube videos sends this laptop to its death bed (charger cable) within an hour and a half. Im barely able to get 2.5 hours out of it when doing mainly word processing and research on the web. If the battery life and power management features were improved, I could give this 4 or even 5 stars. The battery life just ruins it for me. No charging via USB-C is also kind of crappy. My last laptop was a Dell Precision 15" laptop with a 4k screen. It had a Xeon CPU and an NVIDA Quadro card. It only let me upgrade the RAM to 32GB. The battery life on that was nearly 4 hours of youtube videos or 8 hours of research. The CPU used more power as did the graphics card on paper specs. The batteries were within 10Whr of capacity of each other. Why the huge discrepancy in actual battery life? It also let me charge via USB-C while docked to a reasonably powered docking station.

I upgraded to this from last year’s model, the 2018 15" Blade with the 1070 GPU. This laptop fills the gaps where the 2018 model was lacking, mainly the alternate back-lit keys, Windows Hello, USB 3.1 and obviously the bleeding edge GTX 2080 GPU that should handle games for years to come. I was worried because a lot of reviewers said they had moderate to severe coil whine. I used to have a Dell XPS with coil whine and it drove me crazy. It was moderate to what most people seem to have, but I could still hear it whenever I used the laptop. Im happy to say that my 2019 Blade 15" with the GTX 2080 has zero audible coil whine. I did notice that they downgraded the NVME SSD from last year’s model to a Lite-On CA3-8D512 which has lower benchmarks but the difference is probably not noticeable in real world applications. I took it out and replaced it with a Samsung 970 EVO because I needed more space than 1 TB anyways. Ive put this laptop through an intense 72-hour burn-in along with weeks of use and everything is running perfectly without any coil whine or other issues. Like last year’s model, the fans do turn on and off constantly during light normal use which is sort of annoying. Disabling Intels Turbo Boost when you dont need the tiny bit of extra performance resolved this for me and is good enough. A quick search for "disable intel turbo boost" will explain how its done. I generally keep turbo boost off at all times because I prefer a silent laptop. I mainly use this laptop for development (Visual Studio, Creative Suite etc...) but game once in a while during downtime (R6 Siege, Fortnite, Destiny, Division, Witcher etc.). The GTX 2080 is a pretty nice improvement in FPS, out of the box it can achieve 144 fps pretty easily in the above games on the highest settings. Its a perfect desktop replacement or travel laptop. PROS: Beautiful Full HD screen, one of the best Ive seen on a laptop, very crisp and colorful Excellent keyboard and trackpad, some of the best Ive used on a laptop. I love the crisp feeling of the keys; the track pad is accurate and never seems to be over sensitive or get in the way. Back-lit alternate keys, the alternate keys now light up so you can see them in the dark. This was a major issue for me with my 2018 laptop. GPU that can handle any game with solid FPS One of the few non-obnoxious "gaming" laptops you can bring into an office meeting USB 3.1 CONS: Power supply is bulky, runs hot and has a non-standard connector that can easily scratch up the area where it plugs in. The cord is also pretty rigid. Finger print magnet Razer synapse 3 requires an online account and is still somewhat buggy The right shift key is smaller than a normal keyboard, I got used to it from daily use but it may really bug some people VERY hot while gaming! Youll need a lap pad for anything longer than 30 minutes. The keyboard and trackpad stay decently cool but watch out for the metal strip between the keyboard and screen. You could fry and egg on it! OVERALL: Im VERY happy with the 2019 model so far. The GTX 2080 GPU is an absolute beast for such a tiny machine. Last year I went through 3 Razer laptops to get one without defects (Popping power supply that died after a week, screen bleed, etc.), this time I got a perfect one on the first try. If anything goes wrong with this one, Ill update my review.

I have 4 Razer Blades, 2 of 14 ", 1 of 17", and the new one of 15 Advanced Model RTX 2070. I Have Orochi 8200 Razer Mouse. But surprise!!!...In none of the Razer Blade works via Bluetooth. My Orochi 8200 mouse works perfectly with S.O. Win 8.1, but when I changed to Win 10 the connection via Bluetooth stopped working. It is clearly a driver incompatibility problem with Win 10. It is incredible that Razer has not developed a driver for Win 10 that operates with older devices. I have another mouse, Logithech M557, bought in 2014, but it works perfectly. Razer support tells me that the problem is with the mouse ... and I tell them that it works perfectly with win 8.1, and that when I change to win 10 the mouse stops working.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 month update : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ downgrade to 3 stars , the build quality is no where near a macbook as expected , the frame itself seems to be made of an weak alloy or something ; the lightest bump on the screen and i could notice a very so slight dent in the frame ! 2 weeks with dual boot Windows 10 + Manjaro Linux and used for Dev & one hour of gaming on daily basis . 1 .build quality : best in thin & light windows but still a way to rival Macbook pro ; the anodized metal scratches easily and finger print magnet , you might want to go to the Silver model . I used a debrand skin & sleeve . 2. Performance : Great ! lighting fast , I bumped up the RAM to 32 . Windows Hello IR works great . Usually use it for development and light gaming , the laptop rarely kicks the fans except while gaming and gets toasty fast ! 3. Linux : Manjaro XFCE works out of the box , no issues except the laptop gets warm (CPU) even when idle . 4. Windows Drivers : Its a struggle to get windows update to find the Nividia RTX drivers , after hitting the update button a number times finally managed to get the right driver . Track-pad does not work ( I formatted the SSD) , had to download some Dell precision drivers from a link shared on Reddit. 5. Screen is gorgeous , 144 Hz is awesome extremely bright . Games just glide , over laptop use is also very smooth . I moved from 4K Lenovo P50 panel and can say I am not missing the 4K at all ; in fact I dont have to deal with 4K scaling issues and Lenovo panel is at best mediocre 6. Speakers is not so great , not sure if thats a driver issue but sure is underwhelming . 7. Keyboard is OK , not much key travel or tactile feel but then again I am used to ThinkPad keyboard . On the whole I am satisfied with the purchase so far , the laptop has a nice balanced aesthetic of formal + gaming .

I have 3 Razer laptops in our house - yeah, me and my boys are all gamers. But if you plan on upgrading the RAM and SSD - WARNING! (I’ve upgraded all 3) The day I got my Razer 15, I upgraded the memory and SSD. I have a degree in electronics and build PC’s - so I know how to take care and handle these components. Nine months later, the 4K touch screen on my laptop failed - just the touch aspects of it, the screen works fine otherwise. I called Razer, since it was still under warranty, and explained what was wrong and that I’d done these upgrades. No problem they said, just return it. So I did. Three weeks pass and I get an email: “It appears that you have performed upgrades on your unit” - erm, I told you I did at the outset so, yeah. “In order to access the RAM slots the LCD cables needed to be removed; unfortunately, our designated team believe that the cables were damaged in this process, which caused the LCD failure.”. Remember, they’re saying this cable damage - which they can’t specify, point to or provide any evidence for - caused a touch screen to fail 9 months later. But, they go on to explain, if I don’t want to replace the screen I don’t have to pay and they’ll just return the laptop. There’s an assessment fee if it’s out of warranty (it’s not). OK - so I think it’s dubious to say that this is their “conclusion”, offering no evidence whatsoever, but we can agree to disagree and move on. But another 2 weeks later and they now don’t reply to emails, don’t call back and more worryingly, are not returning the laptop. So my advice is simple: avoid Razer as a company. This has been a truly awful customer service experience and I’ll be going elsewhere for my gaming devices from now on.
