This took a long time to get shipped to me but was worth the wait. I ordered it when Amazon indicated there were two left but then it was over 5 weeks until I got it. I got the deal they had going for the $300 gift card. This laptop is very light weight, has excellent battery life, great keyboard, bright screen and all other basics I was looking for. Very similar to a macbook pro I bought for a lot more and ended up returning due the keyboard issues they have. The only issue I have with this laptop is the constant fan noise others have experienced. I did experience this as well but turned off Windows Search which resolved the issue unless I am really taxing the system. I never use search on any of my other windows machines as they all have solid state drives and are fast anyway. Others may have a use for windows search but I dont ever need it. The build seems pretty solid and given that I purchased the high end model but paid considerably less, seems worth it to me. I own a few other high end machines but was looking for a 3:2 screen and a machine that was lightweight for travel. I have not used Huawei products before so well see how this goes over time. Shame they did not plan or market this very well in terms demand vs availability. I would recommend this device for anyone looking for a decent laptop at a lower price that other high end laptops out there.

This is my first review in over 12 years of using Amazon. I think its ridiculous to charge $1300 or thereabouts for a laptop and have the trackpad rattle around. I read that this could be a problem for some people but just assumed it would be a very rare one. Nope, trackpad rattles each time I touch a finger to it and it annoys the hell out of me. Sending product back and will not buy again. VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMER. To be fair, all other features of the laptop are great and as advertised. If you can deal with throwing down a large chunk of cash on this machine and getting a faulty trackpad out of the box then go right ahead. Ive done lots of research and it looks as though an alarmingly high percentage of laptops come with the trackpads that rattle. The best fix includes taking the back off and sticking a piece of paper to the back of the trackpad. Good luck.

Ive only had it for less than a day. The screen is very nice; the keyboard reminds me of a Mac keyboard, which I dont care for that much, but feels OK. I prefer keyboard with more travel such as the Lenovos. The trackpad has a little of the "looseness" that others have mentioned but it doesnt bother me so much. The SSD is a Toshiba and tests at 1900Mbs at faster read speed with CrystalDiskMark. I was ready to return it if it didnt seem like a real quality device but I think its a keeper. The screen crispness makes up for the rather small text size (Im an old guy). I dont expect to use it as a work device but more of an entertainment device. Its a snappy performer and all I really need. Ill post an update later if I change my mind. BTW, the 3:2 screen was a swaying factor for me. Update - sent it back As much as I loved many features of the device; I sent it back. It just wasnt the right device for me. If it had a Lenovo keyboard, I would have kept it. But , because it really is a Macbook clone, it has a Mac-like keyboard, which I dont care for at all. I also had an unfortunate incident with Huawei support where I was told to reinstall/restore Windows to solve a problem with not being able to boot from a flash drive. Mind you, I was trying to backup my laptop with the USB rescue media, so reinstalling Windows kinda defeats the purpose of taking a backup, now doesnt it? I will ending up spending considerably more $$ for a Lenovo T/P/or X series machine, but thats the kind of machine I want to be on anyway. You get what you pay for.

I bought this computer so that I would have something which did not act wonky while traveling on business in China. What I received was a laptop that essentially cannot be used in China. Works OK in the US, with the exception of prohibiting me from accessing GOOGLE MAPS, but in China - nothing. The internet and the wi fi is totally disabled while in China. I have had someone look at the machine while in China and upon returning to the US. Neither had any idea what was the issue. I am well aware of what is and what is not censored but that was not the issue. When I asked customer service they had no suggestions other than to clear off all my programs send them the machine for 2 weeks, and hope for the best. That means being without the laptop for an extended period, not to mention the inconvenience of having to remove and then re-install every one of my programs. Why it will not allow me to use Google maps is a great mystery. Other map programs - no problem, but google maps loads for 1 second and then is blacked out. Not when I am in China mind you (that is censored) but while Im in the US. There has been a lot written and speculated about Huawei and their motivations for entering the US market. Some have accused the company as being a trojan horse on behalf of the Peoples Party. I thought that was absurd, but after my experience - Im not sure. There are some mighty strange things going on with this computer and frankly I am not comfortable using it and have become quite concerned about privacy issues, etc. You may want to take the risk as a user, but I would beware.

It took only 3 days to reach Singapore. This laptop is definitely one of the best valued ultra portable in the market. Though Huawei has updated the Matebook X Pro in 2019 with new exterior design, the internal is still pretty much the same as 2018 model. Besides, it seems that Huawei has constantly adjusting their production according to the users feedback and review. My unit was produced in early 2019, the SSD has only one partition, no more touchpad rattle, decent battery life and gorgeous 3:2 display. Everything has been working fine so far. 16GB ram is sufficient enough for me to multitask with Chrome tabs, office, YouTube, OBS Studio operating simultaneously at the background. The only minor issue with the Matebook X Pro is the thermal design. It runs hot, (pretty hot to the touch IMO) during heavy workload or when system is upgrading. So far, I am very satisfied with the notebook. I think this is much worthy than Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 and MacBook Air 2018. The chin camera is never an big issue for me because I never use the camera that often.

Great out of the box, but absolutely NO customer support. I spilled liquid on my keyboard, minor spill, and everything worked except for the “z” key. Totally my fault, did not expect any sort of warranty repair, just wanted it fixed, because my laptop was 2 weeks old. Called Huawei, was given a ticket number, price for new keyboard unit, and was asked to send in pix of my laptop. I followed instructions and heard nothing. Called Huawei several days later, was told that was a bad ticket number and they normally won’t repair non-warranty problems, but would escalate my case. 5 days later no response. Called Huawei a 3rd time, was told I probably wouldn’t have any luck going through company and to buy part from their Ontario supplier or Microsoft. They gave me the wrong number for their supplier, found the right number and no one answered after multiple calls. Called MS twice, no one had a clue on Huawei parts. Gave up and called 2 repair services: neither of which could even find the part number for a replacement keyboard. I very much regret purchasing this computer.

I have been a long time MacBookPro user and tbh, still am since I develop for all mobile platforms but this was my first time in over a decade I ventured out of the Apple line. If not for Apple’s ignorance around the function keys and the retarded touchbar, Huawei would’ve never had the opportunity to make an impression and it far exceeded the expectations for the price. I cannot speak for others and I must assume the build quality is improving every quarter because I haven’t had any of the issues others have reported. Arguably I have become accustomed to the MBP’s keyboard travel but this keyboard is solid. The trackpad is smaller but I find it less an issue on Windows since I use a mouse exclusively where the pad is used more in MacOS. The screen is beautiful, haven’t struggled with overheating and it is silent. For the price, if you are not on MacOS - this wins all marks. If not for Apple messing up the cooling issue around the I9 and keyboard headaches - if Hauwei figures out how to let users upgrade memory and harddrive - this device is reason enough say hardware is indeed plateauing.

This computer doesnt allow me to mess around in settings mode for long. It doesnt allow you to change certain things. It will just load forever with no end. It takes so long to change a background picture, its just all around a poor laptop from a beginner company

Pros: • Fast storage and processor • Lots of RAM • Comes with a USB-C Hub and Office • Price (I got it with a promo for $1,200) • Screen is amazing • Decent graphics (Does most games at medium settings) Cons: • Can get quite toasty at times (Normally just makes your fingers very warm on the keyboard) • If you are running it on best performance it will be running with decently loud fans. They don’t really bother me but if your sensitive to sound they might bother you.

I was looking to switch from Macbook Pro late 2013 to a new laptop. Tried the Dell XPS 2018 9370 before this. I dont do intensive tasks and just wanted a notebook for multimedia and office use. 1. Screen: the screen has a 3:2 aspect ratio which is ideal (as it shows more content vertically) for students and professionals who work with excel, word etc. Given the 3:2 aspect ratio, videos may crop on the top and bottom but I got used to it. The screen is ample bright and has a 3K resolution. It is touch capable as well. Between the Dell and this notebook, not much to pick from. 2. Fan noise: It is better than Dell in terms of fan noise in my view. My XPS fan used to run constantly and was fairly loud. the fans rarely come on the Huawei. 3. Heat: the Huawei does heat up once in a while but its towards the top of the keypad area, but after a few days, it doesnt heat up for my typical office usage. 4. Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity: Better than my Dell XPS. the XPS has the Killer driver while the Huawei uses the Intel driver. My Dell would constantly have Bluetooth issues so much so that I couldnt use my MS surface mouse with it. Dell suggested sending it to them but as my only notebook, not everyone can wait for the laptop to get fixed. 5. Battery life: Its battery capacity is higher than that of the XPS and has a lower resolution screen. It lasts around 8 hours for my usage and my XPS used to last shorter than the Huawei. 6. Webcam placement: Top notch security wise but usage wise, terrible. But then I have not used my webcam in years so for me both XPS and Huawei webcam placement issues are non-issues. The advantage with Huawei is that theres no need to put a post-it or a band-aid. 7. Sound: The speakers and the Dolby Atmos tuning on the Huawei is one of the best notebook sound systems I have used. Dell XPS sound was nothing special when compared to this. 8. Trackpad: the trackpad works with windows precision drivers and despite its relatively massive size, is excellent with accidental touches. Overall, the trackpad is better than the XPS (which would zoom in pages while scrolling many times for me). 9. Key board: both Dell XPS and the Huawei have excellent keyboards despite being in a notebook form factor. I prefer Huawei over the Dell though as the latter felt more mushy and my device had some weirdly engineered keys. 10. Price: I was able to get the Core i7, 16 gb, 512 gb SSD model for $1200 or so. the Dell XPS 13 topline model runs for around $500 more. Given the price differential, it is pound for pound a better laptop and a better value than the Dell XPS 13. Finally, one can criticize Huawei for making a laptop that looks like a MacBook, quite frankly at its price (with the coupon offer) it is better than its competitors, including the much loved Dell XPS 13.
