I purchased this laptop based on the positive reviews as well as the price. First, I will say that it is a beautiful laptop which appears much more costly than it was. The keyboard is extremely functional and a pleasure to type on and the large screen is an added bonus. I must however say that upon immediate use, I found the system slow and unresponsive to the point that watching any videos was impossible, due to constant stuttering and sound breaking up. After some online research, I discovered that an update might resolve the issue and to my surprise thats all it took. A chrome update that lasted about 5 minutes in length and my problem was solved. Everything is now working at prime capacity and watching videos is no longer a problem. Images are crystal clear and I have found the battery life to be more than adequate, lasting close to eight hours when watching videos. Very pleased with this purchase!

This is my second Asus Chromebook. Unfortunately, the first one had a single UP key that failed after a couple of years. I didnt hold that against Asus in my purchase of this one. Large screen, very fast (as are most Chromebooks) and very lightweight. For the price, you cannot go wrong. Nice feel to the keyboard. The only feature that is missing is a lighted keyboard, but that option only shows up on devices at twice the price. Good value.

At 15.6" 1366x768 I expected the display to be grainy. I did not expect the horrible vertical viewing angles. Tilt the display a little wrong, and it washes out, making it very unreadable. WIth a slightly better display (a 14" IPS or even a wide-viewing angle TN), even at a slightly higher price (or without an included charger), this machine would be a slam dunk. However, for $250, if you can put up with the finicky display, its a pretty decent buy. The keyboard is decent, the trackpad is decent, the performance is decent. The case is plastic with alot of flex, but it is also very light and pretty slim. And its only $250! You can buy 4 of these for a price of a typical $1000 laptop. Thats crazy.

There arent a lot of complaints I have about this laptop. But the ones that I do have are the reason I ended up returning it. Lets start with the good: Its lightweight, affordable, and charges quickly thanks to USB-C. The keyboard and mouse pad are acceptable. The IO options cover everything I needed. And the battery lasts long enough to take it on the go with you throughout the day. The performance speed was good enough, though there were times where I felt like a faster processer or more RAM would have been an asset, especially when doing heavy multitasking. Now for the things I just couldnt get over: This laptop was intended primarily for media consumption--watching YouTube, Hulu, browsing social media, etc. The biggest issue with this? The speakers are on the bottom of the laptop chassis. So when you set it down on a table, couch, or anywhere else really, the audio becomes muffled and really unenjoyable. You can still hear it, but it really detracts from the viewing experience in a significant way. I found myself propping it up on books or other objects, but regardless, the sound is still being fired away from you. Yes, the speakers get loud to overcome this design choice. But the drivers arent good enough to do so without some noticeable distortion. And if youre watching something while laying in bed, you can forget about sound clarity entirely. While I understand that this design decision was to make the top of the laptop spill-proof, it was a compromise I couldnt live with. The other big issue I had was with the display. The screen is large, bright, and...the resolution is ever so slightly dull. You can tell its close to 1080p, but not quite there. And I think the larger screen size really necessitates true 1080p, if not 1440p. Regardless of what I watched, I always found myself wishing the image was just a little more crisp. And before you start: Yes, the source content I was watching was 1080, and looked better on my $150 HP 15 Black Friday laptop from Walmart that Ive had for 5-6 years. The icing on the cake? My old HP laptop is a touch screen as well, where as this one is not. And I wish it was. Big displays really benefit from touch capabilities. The nail in the coffin was the simple fact that a $260 laptop today should not be worse in display resolution, touch capabilities and speaker placement than a $150-$200 laptop from over 5 years ago. I know inflation should be accounted for, but in a lot of ways that count for me, this felt like a downgrade.

I had the Asus chromebook in the 11" for 2 years and never had one problem with it so when I decided to get a larger screen because my eyes arent that good anymore, I bought the same brand. I do love the bigger screen however maybe the battery life isnt quite as good as the smaller one and it is a little heavier, all to be expected with a bigger screen. Im very happy with my purchase.

I purchased this for my 88 year old mother. She needed a machine to do her email and perform online banking and shopping. I was able to quickly sign her up and get going and it has been going well (althought it has only been a few weeks). everything worked as expected and I was able to get her started relatively quickly (use of the touchpad will be problematic). I am reserving a star for future potential issues

I use my laptop for days when I work from my secondary office, as well as whenever I have to work from home or on the road. I previously had a much smaller Asus laptop, which just got too old to continue on. I decided to switch to Chromebook since my company uses primarily Google Drive as storage, and everything I need to do is achievable via the OS. I previously had Windows 10 and hated it, so the cleaner OS is welcome. The computer is large, but extremely lightweight. The screen size is perfect for managing multiple windows while working. Additionally, I have spent many days with 10+ tabs open at once for research, and it has not slowed down in the least. The battery life is not as great as advertised, but I can get a solid workday off of one charge if Im not streaming videos or doing any graphics work. The screen is also not the highest quality, it definitely reflects the price point. On the other hand, I have no need for HD or UHD and so havent had the same qualms other reviewers seem to have. If youre doing a lot of intense design work than it may not be the ideal computer, but for writing, working, researching, and web browsing it works great!

Purchased this while on Black Friday sale. Great upgrade to my C300. Same size body, but with a bigger screen, lighter weight, improved hinge, and better inputs. I love the dual USB C inputs for charging More than capable for the average Chromebook user. Only complaint is the track pad clicks when using, but most of the time, Im using an external mouse. Time will be the real test of build quality, but as of now, easy recommendation for most Chromebook users.

By far, the best Chromebook I have ever owned. We almost bought my Wife a new MacbookAir but decided since she only used her old one to surf and do email that this ASUS Chromebook would be perfect. It arrived today the day after Christmas (totally my fault for waiting too late to order) and we set it up on five minutes. Build quality is awesome, screen looks great and sound is fantastic well worth the 200 bucks or so we paid and we saved a thousand bucks and avoided the Apple eco system again! Cheers

i needed a second computer for college preferably a chromebook because i use gmail, docs, & slides a lot for classes. i also wanted a bigger computer due to my eyesight so when i saw this listing i was excited. i got the computer & literally the first night of me using it to do homework/research it continually FROZE AND WOULD RESTART ON ITS OWN! i stopped counting after the 5th time it began to reboot, just cut it off & put it back into the box. i should have known something was off when i opened it & there was no plastic to peel off the device... you know the plastic they stick on the screen and/or around a device. the computer i received must have been refurbished, a return, or just a defective device that shouldn’t be sold again.
