Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC All-in-One Zoom for Nikon APS-C Digital SLR

I am an amateurs amateur photographer, but in my opinion, this is a very poor quality lens. It is made of all plastic, including the mount, and has a very cheap feel once you pick it up. It is indeed very light, but I would much rather have the weight of my Nikon lens knowing it is of much better quality. My biggest complaint is the binding of the zoom ring as one changes from near to far in distance. The movement is very choppy and binding throughout the 18-300mm range, and I suspect its due to the cheap plastic used for the gears inside. I havent decided if Im going to keep the lens or return it; it may be a good tool with which to learn, but it certainly is not, in my opinion, a good long-term investment. I may just replace it with a Nikon 18-300mm instead. This is my second Tamron lens and I have yet to be impressed by either one, but, I am, after all, only an amateur at best. The lens also seems to use an inordinate amount of battery energy. My D300 went through an entire battery in less than two hours of shooting, where as my Nikon lens will last more than a weekend. This is a nice lens for the price. It has a good zoom as well as wide angle. Ive never bought any brand other than Nikon before. I have 2 problems with it, 1 is that while focusing, sometimes the optics will "jump" and I have to refocus, and 2, when I use the full zoom, my images are not clear and crisp. I found that if I zoom just shy of the full capability it is fine. Not sure if its just my lens or if this is something everyone else experiences.

I took this on a 3 week trip to England were I wanted a wide range of options with a single lens. Be aware this lens has nice optics but a plastic mount. The Camara kept telling me no lens was attached. Easy fix, take it off and put it back on. But ultimately you loose your shot. Returned

Great value! I bought this for my Nikon D5100 DSLR as a general-purpose lens that can do good macro close-ups, portraits and some telephoto work. Pros: Good range of focal length, accurate autofocus, compact and light, and a great price Cons: Lens is slow (aperture), and inevitably at this price the images seems a bit soft. Overall - recommended!

I purchased this lens to take photos of my daughters college volleyball games. Volleyball can be difficult to shoot due to the lighting conditions and continuous action, but this lens has been up to the task. For the price, I realized that I wasnt getting a "high end" lens and there have been times where the lens has had a hard time focusing given the action, background, and lighting. I absolutely love the versatility since the lens is an 18-200 as I do not have to exchange lenses as often. For the price, an excellent buy!

I purchased this lens in order to have a telephoto option to accompany my nicer prime lenses. To make a long story short, this is not a very sharp lens. Yes, the convenience factor of 18-200 is something to consider. However, this lens shoots very soft, and in my opinion is terribly un-sharp. In fact many of my photos have been flat out unusable, even with heavy post production in RAW format. Much better (and sharper) options out there for this price.

I got this lens for video use. I needed a lens that could do both wide angle and get a tight zoom without the need for changing lens. The build quality is okay for the price youre paying. Low light performance is mediocre when zoomed in for still shots, but for what I use it for its really not a big factor. Image quality is acceptable for outdoor use during the daytime, but suffers a bit in low-light situations. Overall its not a bad lens for what it can do and its price point. You can get better lens that offer the same capabilities as this lens, but youre going to pay three or four times as much for them. This lens offers a very favorable value for money ratio. For video, where image quality isnt paramount this a lens worth having.

Background: Im a beginner and my camera is a Nikon D3000 with only a kit lens before this purchase. The Tamron 18-200mm not only replaced my kit lens but it gave me flexibility. The kit lens was very limited in use. This has allowed me to not only extend my range it also better at low light. Focus is about as quick as the kit lens. I have not tried any other brand of 18-200mm or any lens for that matter so i can only compare it with the kit 18-55mm. And so far I am very pleased with this purchase. I just found that when using a tripod that i have to turn off the VC function of the lens. But the VC is very capable when shooting handheld even at night. I added a photo i took using this lens. i shot it handheld 1/8 shutter at 800iso and photo came out nice with no noticeable shake. My only concern is that i hope this lens will last because unlike the nikon brand kit, the mount on this lens is made of plastic not metal. But otherwise im very much pleased.

I have had this for two months. Liked it for the price in the beginning but as I snapped more and more frames, I started to notice how blurry the images are. I did a bit of research to realize others have similar issue and it is perhaps due to the VC system that Tamron adopts. You will clearly notice frame jumps in the viewfinder and often get blurred pictures even in day light. I am sure at that shutter speed I am using I shouldnt get any and it is caused by some internal issues. When I turn off the VC I can take much better pictures, but that kind of defeats the purpose, right? I have paid for a VC enabled lens and I expect to have a working one. Anyways, I would avoid this one in future and invest in a higher quality lens.

Great lens i use this on my d7100 and works great for all around lens. I even did some video shooting and kept a good image quality. I have a 35mm a 50mm and a 70-300 lens and this lens work great with the kit i have. I would definitely recommend to purchase
