The detail and contrast are excellent but this little guy is a crazy robot (zip, zip, zip) trying to focus on an A7RII. Slow, noisy and never really sure of itself, that it has focus. After experiencing the 24-70mm f/4 poor edges, I opted for this for now. The macro was a motivation and this 50mm can focus sooo close, this would make a great indoor product shooter but for nature Im thinking I should have tripled the cost into the 90mm G for more distance and better autofocus for non-macro.

I am just getting used to the camera and lens. Quality appears to be very good. Really love it.

Very sharp lens, much better than the Sony FE 50mm F1.8 I previously owned. Focus at macro range is slow and noisy. Small, compact, lightweight.

I use this for copying my old 35mm slides. Great focus across the entire frame, and I havent noticed any loss of resolution with various apertures. Not a rigorous test, but I am happy with it.

Works amazing for macro work. Though you still have to get fairly close and the 50mm doesnt seem to have much use outside macro as I already have the Sigma 40mm.

This lens is lightweight and easy to use. I love the macro features and how you can lock it for 1:1 magnification. I am very pleased with the quality of my images

My first macro lens, I love it! Could be sharper when maginified, but for this price it’s a pretty versatile lens with a wide focus range. Weightless as well, my lightest lens.

An excellent lens image quality wise. Once you get used to how to control it you will have a gem in your hands. Interacts superbly with the a7Rm2. The sharpness is superb even at the corners of the shot. In some severe scenarios e.g. foliage with a very bright background you might encounter some chromatic aberration up to f/5.6.

Great, sharp lens, and offers good ability to use for both everyday, scenic and macro shots all in one. For me, this really beats the standard 50mm. Focus is plenty fast in my experience (A7II and A7RII), though others have reported different results. Love it.
