This lens works great. It is a little loud when you use the auto focus. When the camera is not attached to a body, some of the components seem to rattle and move around, but I have had no issues with it because of this. Photos are all crisp and amaze me everytime I use this lens.

This lens does macro and more! That is what I love about it. Incredible detail at the macro level plus I can get really nice close up shots without having to get really close. Sigma rocks! I highly recommend it to anyone who shoots macro.

This is a great macro lens. I cant compare it to the Canon, but this takes sharp macro images. Autofocus works good at macro levels.

This thing is amazing. It beats any Canon L lenses Ive ever used.

I found this lens to be very quick, accurate and nearly silent in focusing. The color quality was excellent with no fringing or color distortion. The stabilization was very accurate and the image sharp and stable even though there has been conditions where the camera was not able to stay steady. I have had absolutely no problems with this lens. I can recommend this lens to anyone looking for a lens in this range wholeheartedly.

Great lens! I like the feel of the focus ring action. It doesnt slip so much when pointed downward as other brands will. the lens in general has a nice quality feel to it. Images always come out clear.

I have only taken about 100 pictures with the lens, but I find it very good. I am strictly an amateur so I rate it on how the images look to me. Indoors I took both portrait and macro images. I liked the bokeh in the portrait images. The macro images of coins were taken with a tripod which I would always recommend using. The 1:1 image is fantastic. I can hardly wait for spring to photo flowers and insects with it.

Very sharp lens. weighty but thats to be expected for an F2.8 lens with image stabilization. Auto-focus does tend to hunt, but for macros one should use manual focus unless tracking a moving object like a bug. Overall, Im very happy with it, especially given it was hundreds less than the Canon 100mm macro. It will work fine for portraiture too.
